A visit to our local town to see the newly reinstated "Citadella" Intercity express. But instead of running from Ljubljana as previously, it now starts at Maribor, passengers from Ljubljana use the ICS tilting train to connect at Maribor. Another change is that MAV (Hungarian) coaches are used instead of SZ ones as previously. Does "reinstated" mean there is enough ridership to demand the train? Or an upswing in area economy? Or?
The train was discontinued about a year ago, as were some other international trains between various countries. Not sure why it was reinstated, but as they are using Hungarian coaches, probably due to demand from Hungarians. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
It's interesting trying to figure out how other areas railroading is influenced by politics and economics. Then comparing to this side of the pond.
