Setting aside local and FAA regs for the moment (that these are serious factors) how to you use yours for railfannings? Pending health issue suggest "field" flights in the spring as I learn both drones and regs. Thoughts?
Be cool to use one of these, I've seen some great footage by drone. Just keep a little distance from the tracks, people, FAA, etc. Probably keep it a little low to the ground about 50 feet up max till ya' get the hang of it. Show some video when ya' get a chance!
sound muffled by props! Vids posted usual have dubbed soundtracks or voiceovers. Drone shoots 2.7K video and 12 MP jpeg. A beginner setup.
WARING!!! Make sure your smart phone meets ALL DJI specs if you are looking at they're MINI!!! ! My NEW phone is not on their list and cannot open the app for the MINI!!! DJI has not addressed the issue as of the date 12-13-19.
https://www.dji.com/mavic-mini/downloads My phone is Android 9.0 and new... DJI forum chat suggest it's 64bit vs 32bit... Not fine print, but should be clearer on their sites... "old man grumble".
I admire the railfan camerawork done with drones. I'd never have the patience. Hiking into spots with my DSLR, gadget bag and scanner is plenty enough for me.
Brief hover test in living room... spin some wings on me (after an additional $160 USD for a new phone) Unseasonally warm here... outside, and a bit of peace for the dog! Experiments!!!! Old man happy dance.
