    Hey all,
Have any of you heard of a program called "Rail Op"
I was reading my new MR today and on page 79 the writer talks briefly about it. THanks for any help you can give me.

    Matt,

Check out RailOp.com They also have a user group on YaHoo that you can join, and a free demo to try.
I am looking at purchasing and using myself.

    Ron,
    Thanks Much.
I have requested the demo and will play around with it this weekend. What I've seen of it so far isn't too bad but I still have to do some browsin around in it. Thanks for your help.

You also might want to look at Interchange. This is a new full featured operating program. I have been beta testing over the last couple of years and the semi-final version has just been released. You can download the program and look at the documentation at:

    http://www.mcswiz.com/MCSMRCDS/MainPage.asp

This program does just about everything you can think of. It supports module layouts, staging yards, inventory, and it produces switchlists, waybills, and car cards (if you still want them). There is also a Yahoo group for the program at:

    Ron,
From what I got the chance to try of it, it's not too bad. I am going to be upgrading some components in my computer and re-installing windows so I will re-install it after I have the time to do that. Thanks for the tips.

I'm a RailOp user and have successfully used both Minirail and RailOp. I more or less alternate between the two.

RailOp is very easy to use for a computer system. I would say that you have to be predisposed to want to use a computer system, and setting your layout up for operation is a pretty big task whatever system you use (switchlists, car cards, computer, etc.).

I have a section in the Operation area of my web site covering this subject generally. There are now a couple of new products that I haven't fully looked at yet.

Anyone here try this software and would it benefit a small layout? I do understand that value is different for everyone so don't hesitate to throw in a small description on how you applied it and how you benefited from it.
    Thanks.
