I decided to begin venturing out across the border into Utah. Here are some images from yesterday's trip. Feel free to post any of your Utah images.

The first stop was Westwater, UT.

We found some U.P. MOW crews working in the Westwater area.

Next we drove to Cisco, UT and found a string of coal hoppers on the siding.

Being a Grande fan I couldn't resist shotting some Grande hoppers.

Next we headed back to I-70 and caught a couple of distant Amtrak shots from a rest stop.

We traveled as far west as Crescent Junction UT where we saw U.P. working on the spur for the mill tailings disposal site.

Although it is hard to make out from this smaller picture the semi trailer on the left is an ex MOPAC trailer.

From here we headed back east to Thompson Springs, UT along old US6. After leaving Crescent Junction we came across some antelope near the tracks.

In Thompson Springs we found this MOW equipment sitting on the siding.

Looking west from town you can see a few cars on the siding off in the distance.

As we begin to leave Thompson Springs we here an east bound BNSF approaching.

A closer look at the BNSF.

Since the BNSF was moving rather fast we decided to get on to east bound I-70 and see if we could catch it in Cisco, UT.

Here we caught the BNSF at Cisco, UT.

Excellent! 7 units plus 1 pushing!?! What a show! The scenery seems pretty vertical in Westwater... I would love to see more from there!

The Westwater area is pretty vertical and is where the trains begin coming out of Ruby canyon. I'll try to head back there in the future and hopefully get a train shot or two.

    Thanks for the compliments guys!

The yellow tank car is marked PROX 50228. I assume that it is a Procor leased unit.
