Okane: My answers, to the best of my limited knowledge of computers are in boldface. If this helps, I'm a happy guy, as I'm sure you would be. Incidentally, I went back after a breather, and was able to upload pics two at a time- any more than two, and I got the error codes. Sometimes I even got errors when I uploaded two at a time, at which time I would try to upload the offending pic. Bingo- it went in. I didn;t think to check the size of the pics in question, but I went back to look- one was 859, another 919 (kilobytes, that is).

Also, I left the USB cable that allows me to upload pics directly from my camera to a computer, and the 'puter has no place to plug in my memory chip (128K), so I have to go to Walgreens to get a CD made to upload pics. The computer uses a Corel program to download pics off a CD- on my home laptop, I've been using Adobe Photostop (plus direct downloading from camera to computer in a WiFi environment, again with no issues).

DUnno if this will help, but I sure as heck hope so- it took me 4 hours to upload 100 pics plus captions at this pace.

I'll have more to comment about

Size of the picture: how do you determine that? All I can say is that I'm using a Kodak CX370 4 megapixel digital camera(in Pixels)
Size of the file: ANywhere from 817 kb to 855 kb(in KB) Those that give me trouble were from 855 to over 900, avg. 919 kb
Operating System: If you mean the computer, Windows XP(Version if Possible)
Internet Browser Type: IE 6.0(Version if Possible)
ISP Service Type: Not sure, it's the motel's guest computer, but it sure ain't dial-up. Must be broadband.(Dial Up, CableDSL, ADSL etc)
ISP Provider:unsure. Hilton Hotels has the system
Software to compress file: (Ifanview, Photoshop, MS Paint)
Number of Pictures attempted to upload: Anywhere more than 3 at a time, and sometimes two. When it happens when I upload at two, I upload the offending pic by itself, and bingo- it works.
Is the issue Random: Happens every time (No if this happens everytime you try to upload or Yes if this happens on Occasion)
    Location:Cordele, GA (City if Possible)
Comment: nothing printable (lol), except it's danged frustrating whereas before I was able to upload 10 pics on my laptop, and now I can upload no more than 2 or 3 on this machine. Oh yes, if it helps- my laptop was working on WiFi and broadband, and I couls upload up to 10 pics with no error codes whatsoever.(any thing you would like to add)

Not sure if this has already been discovered and shared...

But I was able to successfully reproduce this error at will today whenever I attempted to upload an image without keywords or keywords I had previously used for another, successful upload.

Just tried it again before making this post and the same result.

    Hope that helps.

This is really puzzling to me. Lately I have only uploaded one or two at a time, but since this problem has come up I tried more. No error messages, no problems. It seems to pick on certain people (more likely configurations of computers). :confused2:

    Jim-

Wish I knew what that configuration might be! Nothing has been changed in my machine. I'd never a bit of trouble, until this hiccup. Since then, hit and miss.

Well, I've been out of town for a week, and it now appears I can't post any photos. Tried one and it was rejected. It was 2286x1551 pixels, 834 KB, sent on dial-up through Fairpoint Commmunications. Got this:

Greg and Russell, maybe it's file size. The ones I upload are usually in the 100-150k vicinity. I'm wondering why you would upload one in the 800-900k size? They won't display any better than if they were smaller. I would like to try to upload one of yours, Greg, if you would email it to me. I have never seen that error message and maybe if tried from another source we could help identify the problem. My email addy is fitzrr@pioneer.net.

I am using the Camedia software that came with my Olympus camera. The only way I can further compress the image is to manually reduce the number of pixels horizontally and vertically and getting the photos down to 100K that way makes them grainy at anything larger than thumbnail size. I've tried that before... I already reduce the pixel numbers substantially.

What seems strange to me is that one week I had no trouble uploading ten photos between 400 and 900 K and the next week I was having great difficulty uploading one. The problem for me started between March 13 and March 18. What modifications were made March 14, 15, 16, or 17? I'd suggest looking at what was changed then...

    My info already previously listed.

Three files just failed. All three combined are less than 320kb.

Warning: move_uploaded_file(/tmp/phpvL8hc1) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/frisco/public_html/railimages/image-inc.php on line 48

Unable to move file [/tmp/phpvL8hc1] [/home/frisco/public_html/railimages/uploads/1367/scane02.jpg]

It's the same error message every time. Only the file name assigned by RI differs.

It used to not be a problem. Something has changed. The Railimage software will compress them when it does work so there was no extra step. I can change the size before uploading them but it strips all the EFIX data.

Latest on this problem. Greg emailed me a photo "ANcabooses" at 856k. I saved it to a file on my machine, and uploaded it to my RI gallery. NO problem reported, saved on RI at 47k size. Just for the heck of it I resized it to 47k using IRFanview, and uploaded it again. No problem, it was saved at 37.6k.
Why can I upload them and Greg can't??? They are viewable on my RI gallery, page 1. It's under "fitz" :confused2:

Since Microsoft spent a good part of last evening and this morning transmitting updates to IE7 - to the point that Zone Alarm asked for confirmation, I thought that perhaps MS had eliminated what was causing the problem. Nope. Same photo as above (2286x1551, 834 KB) and got this:

Warning: move_uploaded_file(/tmp/php1HOP3f) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/frisco/public_html/railimages/image-inc.php on line 48

I managed. As the evening went on, a couple then a couple more, took a while... The error messages were same as noted above. Except for the number/letter series assigned to the failed upload by their software.

It's almost as though there's not enough capacity at times, to accept the upload.
