Here is a newspaper artile like you will never see again. This was in the Joe Wheeler News (Decatur/Hartselle Alabama area) in April 1955. Was some good press for the Southern. This was in a bunch of old newspapers that my grandparents had saved. All of them had to do in some way with Annie Wheeler.
That's indeed sweet and thanks for sharing it. Quite the reversal from today's press that so often vilifies industry. Just a few years ago I read a short story about an NS train crew handing a new NS calendar to an aging man who lived in a modest home facing the tracks. He'd sit on the front porch and wave to every train. He earned a respected spot with the crewmen and they wanted to say thanks for his friendship.
