I had enough backorders to at least cover my up-front etching costs, so despite that I said that I would not rerun these kits until Atlas reran the GP7's, I've got a small run (now under 40 left) of CF7 conversion kits. This is the first time in two years I've run these.

These take an Atlas GP7 as the preferred conversion for the chassis - the 'designed to fit' is the 2006 chassis, but it will fit the old Classic chassis (1992) with a little grinding on the LED holder area of the frame on one end.

While it is possible to fit it on to a GP15 chassis, I did that once, and between all the additional grinding and the comparatively poor electrical pickup, I won't do that again, but it can be done. Same applies to the Bachmann GP7, it can be done, but it's not pretty, or easy.

You need both a chassis, and a Phase 1 long hood, normally without dynamic brake. Only one CF7 had a dynamic brake, 2649, the first one. I do not have any of the long hood castings, and neither does Atlas in their parts store, so you'll have to scrounge for one or have one to convert.

The kits are available with all four cab options and both frame options, to pretty much match any CF7 out there.

Custom builds are available, but it may be a while on these as at the moment I have a two-month backlog on those.

See www.randgust.com for ordering and contact information, I send the .PDF out of the instructions when I get an email, and after that, you can decide if you can do it, or if you want to do a custom build. I've also done custom shortline decals if good photography exists, and you might be surprised how many decals do exist for the second owners.
