All aboard and ready for a ride behind a 1954 Baldwin RS-4-TC at the Texas Transportation Museum in San Antonio. The locomotive was built for the US Army and originally had variable gauge wheel sets so it could be used most anywhere on the globe. That feature dissapeared when it was refitted with a newer engine control system and generator.

Two interlocking towers in Roanoke, VA, both shots taken in August 1983. The first is of the N&W's Randolph Tower, now gone. The second is of JK Tower (called Walnut Street Tower in VGN days) where the N&W and VGN crossed. It still stands I think.

Can anyone identify the builder of this little two-axle critter? It worked Union Camp's lumber mill in Chapman, AL, picture taken 12/06/1982. There's no manufacturer evident on the grille. I looked through my Second Diesel Spotter's Guide and didn't see it as a Davenport, Plymouth, Porter or Whitcomb, but I could easily be wrong. Thanks!
It was not that long ago when large public crowds were fine and nobody was wearing a mask. With all the smoke I suppose a mask would have been handy.

Couple of Southern cabooses in Leeds near Birmingham AL - 2005 One was an office and one was a display. The yellow bay signaled this was a caboose set up for use on locals. They did make it on to road freights from time to time though.
Two heavy loads, including a pair of Alco Tri-Mount trucks [Gallitzin, PA - 07/1980] and a pair of M60 tanks [Montgomery, AL - 10/1988].
The load was moving west. At the time, CR had amassed its six-axle Centuries in Ohio for ore hauling service with their maintenance handled at Pittsburgh's Conway Yard, so I'm guessing they were Pittsburgh bound. Just a guess though.
