oooops! double post!
how about another pic!
"Double or Nothin'"
A double grain load attacks the .66% grade leaving Minot, ND on the BNSF Glasgow Sub at MP 12.4. Some 230 loads and 3x3x0 power kept the 30,000+ tons moving.
A fine shot! I had no idea that trains of that weight were operated. Golly, that's what, 2-1/2 to 3 Miles of train?!
The running days of the 1202 may be behind it now:
Front Range made these in HO scale, but they need a little help to look more realistic. I modified a couple of them a few years ago. Mask Island made Southern decals for these cars right around the time I finished my models, so that's what I used.
CSX 8840 now wears the latest YN3b "boxcar" logo paint scheme:
The new property owners jacked the rent up so high on the warehouse that the business owner just walked away from it all. We offered to let him store the locomotive behind the fence where we are keeping our museum collection but he never took us up on it. Then the vandals and thieves moved in and stripped it of all the copper.
Sad! That 8840 is definitely got some Conrail heritage, with those Flexicoil trucks...
Apparently a bunch of ex-CR Deuces are still roaming around on CSX!
Here is the 8840 as it looked back in its days of working for CR as the 6465:
CR 6409, the unit behind 6465, eventually became NS 3357:
An uncommon sight to see an all BNSF grain train on the CN.
