gp7/gp9

Hi,
The GP locomotives were tooled to include both the GP7 and GP9. We have not made any GP9s yet. An ATSF locomotive was supposed to be part of our first release (we had the prototype), but they were never delivered.
Once we are on our way with the GP30 deliveries we will order a GP7 follow up run which will include at least one torpedo version. We will also offer GP's with 2 x 48" fans later. Current locomotives all have 4 x 36" fans. We will be more specific about the next GP run with a separate announcement at the end of this summer.

 

I remember the GP9 being mentioned earlier, but I thought it had been cancelled because of the MT GP9. Good to see it's still coming.

Will you offer the torpedo tubes as a separate item? I know the "parts" issue has been covered in other threads -- sure would be nice to get some sets for AZL bashing projects!

 

spare parts

Eventually we will offer spare parts. When we restart locomotive production this summer we will also have replacement parts for sale. In the beginning those parts will be limited to trucks and possibly airhorns.

 

Getting back to the RDC. I hope you would do the Budd Demo RDC1. It also would be a good idea to do one painted for AZL. You get to decide what colors to use!

 

You have noooo idea how much I want to get back to the RDC. Everytime I think we have the production snafu solved something else crops up.

Right now we have been told to expect RDC units in August. I was also told the same thing last year. Guess I should have asked "August of exactly what year?"

We know a lot of you have been waiting for our RDC release and we have now tested production samples. The way it looks is that we should be able to have the first releases in stores by the end of January.

Can you tell us the road names? It helps folks plan their hobby spending if they know what is coming.

 

First out will be RDC-1 New Haven and RDC-1 ATSF

 

Thanks Hans. I think pre announcing upcoming road names is a wise business practice. Some folks really have to budget for all these wonderful creations and by knowing in advance what is coming it helps them earmark funds for that specific item.

You've even got Karin starting to drool in the hopes a certain road name will be released. I know you can't please us all, so in advance I say 'thank you' for all those who will be lined up with fistfulls of dollars to seal the deal when it rolls around.

Now it is time to begin wishing everyone a Happy New Year which is almost upon us and we can only hope for one main thrill in 2011......more wonderful Z from AZL, MTL and many others.

AZL RDC Delivery

According to FedEx, the RDCs have arrived from China, but due to our massive snowstorm last night, they will not be delivered from the airport until tomorrow.

We plan to release them to our distributors on Monday, and I hope that dealers will have them before the end of the week.

A little change of plans on road names: first to be released will be:
AZL 62203-1 RDC-1 ATSF #191 - 70 produced
AZL 62203-2 RDC-1 ATSF #192 - 70 produced
AZL 62204-1 RDC-2 WP #375 - 50 produced
AZL 62204-2 RDC-2 WP #376 - 50 produced
AZL 62205-1 RDC-1 CP #9066 - 50 produced
AZL 62205-2 RDC-2 CP #9070 - 50 produced
AZL 62206 RDC-1 SP #10 - 100 produced

Eastern road names will follow in March/April (New Haven and B&M) and we will also release an undecorated RDC-1 at that time. The Undecorated units will have basic paint including a silver body, so for most folks, simple decals will do to create some of the smaller RDC operators.

We also expect our Thrall 3564 Gondolas to be delivered in Mid-February. Road names will include SP, BNSF, CSX, CP, TTX, NOKL, TILX and DJJX. Price and Part numbers to follow. For Loren's sake, please don't bug your dealers about the Gondolas quite yet. This is just a very early heads up.

KEZ will now bug me to go update the AZL web site, which I will not do based on pure stubbornness and principle.

That is excellent news! Will AZL also be releasing an undecorated RDC-2? What about RDC-1s and 2s in NYC and LIRR roadnames?

Correction: Both RDC and Gondolas arrived today. Expect them at your dealers next week.
