Took the time to strip the harbor of ships and do some repairs and fixes to things I did not like, I ended up doing a new water pour of an area of about 4-5 square feet. I have a big harbor that is 3 by almost 7 feet. Welcome to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island Washington State.

Looking from the West to East and the narrow entrance to the harbor by the lighthouse.

Three fishing boats on the way out past Purvis Marine shops while two more enter the harbor. The last one on the left is a crab fisher and you can see the crab pots on deck, Middle one is a seine net trawler, and the first is a Japanese fishing boat.

Shot of the container pier and ore pier. Cars from Macie Moly Mine unload into barges here. Container traffic is by barge and pusher tug and loading off loading of rail cars is here. Containers are of the 14 to 20 foot type. Docked at the pier is a small coastal freighter. And in back is the fish cannery and market with some fishing boats tied up along side. Container traffic is by rail and truck.

The Purvis ship repair yard. Floating dry dock and two ramps that can have ships hauled up on for repairs.
Next to it is the Friday Harbor power station. And to the left you just catch a bit of the Turtle Creek Central engine and car shop.

Three forms of transport here, ferry, seaplane, and to the right the train station. The left ferry is a paper kit and the right ferry is from scratch.

And how cars are exchanged with GN, SP&S, and NP. The car float. The tug assigned to it has an elevated pilot house. To the right is the USCG and NUMA pier. The blue ship is the Oregon and the turquoise ship is the Ocean Research Sandecker.

Took a helicopter ride with Al Giordina Assistant Projects Director for NUMA and snapped some more aerial photos of the harbor.

The first shot is of the USCG and NUMA pier. The Coast Guard is at the end of the pier, Two armed fast patrol craft are tied up at the right end. Coast Guard facility is the large house and quonset hut plus the lighthouse. At the bottom one can catch a view of the outdoor aquarium and boat house plus a dive boat. NUMA unloads and loads marine equipment for flatcars at the bottom of the shot. The two tower cranes are from scratch as is the truck mounted crane. Large ships are the Oregon and on the far right the Sandecker. Pier is rail served.

Next is Purvis Marine entirely scratch built including the quonset hut. Docked in front are a barge mounted pile driver and a barge mounted heavy lift crane, plus the ocean going rescue tug that was bashed from two Tomytec tugs plus extra superstructure parts for Tomytec from Japan. Purvis Marine handles everything repairable including salvage and rescue.

Next up is the marine fuel facility, with storage tanks and a fueling pier. Docked beside it is a fuel barge that supplies the tank farm that was scratch built. Also in the shot to the left is a fuel lighter that refuels ship to large for the pier that is self propelled also from scratch. Orange and black craft with horizontal tanks midships. Just to the right is a partial view of the power station tank farm.

The shot is an aerial view of the fish cannery, metal roofed building, and fish market. dark gray roof. To the left the sea planes all built from kits. The harbor side of the cannery also has a scratch built tower crane. An outdoor fish market is at the bottom of the fish market building. The fish cannery is a Laser cut wood building while the market is a Tomytec structure.

And the last shot is an aerial of the Purvis Marine Shipyard with the drydock. Drydock was made when I shortened the car float and used the section as the base. The rest of the ship repair is by Tomytec. Also in this shot is the Turtle Creek engine and car shop. Small tank farm services the fuel oil filling station. No coal or turntable, Locos are all double ended including a number of steam which is oil fueled thus saving room making a compact facility. Kato short rad unitrack turnouts make this tight trackage possible. Also in view is Wicked Wandas and Waterfront Willies and docked outside are a couple of small sailboats.

Cool! A wave machine!!! What a great idea! Probably not the best thing near a car float dock though.

My drying accelerator for the spackle and the layers of paint. To match the harbor paint it took 5 different colors layered on and blended and two days worth of work. The fresh water pour took overnight to set rock hard.
