I’m looking to locate a source for replacement motors for some of my brass steamers. With the loss of the Motorman, Eldon, I’m not having much luck. He was a great source for low speed coreless motors. eBay has some offerings, the measurements work, but they are higher RPM. Anyone have ideas?
Checked Bachmann website, they offer various motors for their locomotives through their parts support. I might order one of their 4-8-2 mountain motors to test.
SPs, You, for sure, have more experience than I regarding an upgrade of a brass or plastic steamer. However, I want to remind you, when dealing with B'mann parts, you most likely will not be given any details of their worm on any motor shaft. So be sure their worm is compatible with the brass locos worm gear or you may prematurely wear out the worm gear. I graduated from "The School of Hard Knocks" so I speak from experience.
Carl, I plan on either removing the pinion or turning it down to connect to the gearbox with either tubing or NWSL universals.
