I suppose this comes to RDRR. Based in Southern Kettle Moraine area. F3s pulling freight and pulp logs. Dropped of logs, potatoes and sugar at Eagle Springs Lake Distillery. Richard
I have used the reporting marks HC for the Huron Central Railway, totally unaware that they were also used by what appears to be a locomotive leasing company. In view of my having lettered some equipment that way, I will continue to use them, regarding the real world as a mere inconvenience. I have also used the reporting marks HCRR in an earlier era. Huron Central subsidiary Yale, Omard, Kingston and Lakeport (Everywhere that's Nowhere) uses the reporting marks YOKL.
I have a few cars decaled for my Kisatchie, Gulf and Northern RR (KG&N). Alexandria, LA is a city close to the Kisatchie National Forest in LA, so the KG&N serves Alexandria, the cities near the LA Gulf coast (especially New Orleans), and then northward toward Indianapolis, IN. Hmm... since I eat a lot of termites and bananas, my RR is the T&B Lines...
No fantasy RR on my layout, but comparable issues with nicknames. The prototype Peoria and Pekin Union Railway was named for the two major cities it served and had reporting marks, PPU. While they tried to push "The Peoria Gateway" as their nickname, it was was more often called the "Pee and Pee-yew" and also the "Pee and Poo". When they became part of G&W in 2004, the name was changed to the Tazewell and Peoria RR for the two counties it serves, so the reporting marks (TZPR) yielded the less obnoxious "T Zipper" and "Zipper", but some old-timers remembering Peoria's numerous distilleries, demean the renamed RR as the "Tea Sipper".
I've thought about what I would have for a banner. A Wooden Shoe with a Crown. But we don't have canals to float on. So maybe just a Windmill with Tulips. Hmmm... Richard
Kanawha, Youngstown & Northern “KY&N” Also, I have a few cars lettered for a leasing outfit. There is no name behind it, but it is “LTLX” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
