Hi everybody.i have been off Train Board for some considerable time as my wife and I have moved from Lancing in the UK, to Monument in Colorado. I still am interested in the Rio Grande and have joined the RGHMS. I have started on my new layout in my basement, utilizing some boards that I brought with me from the UK. Good to be back with the group
Welcome to Colorado & back to TrainBoard Lots and Lots of great RR to be found here (Colorado & TrainBoard) so you truly can't go wrong. :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin:
Welcome back! You are indeed in a great state for "narrow-minded" people, railroad-wise. Hope to hear more of your exploits here on Trainboard.
Welcome back to Trainboard, and to the wonderful state of Colorado! Maybe we can catch up at train show(s) during the year. Also a member of the RGMHS! Live up north, in Longmont, but head towards Monument/Colorado Springs on occasion. Palmer Lake is a usual stop for me, on my way to/from.
Howdy! I'm trying to drag my fiancee over here from Newcastle England via a K1 Visa! I'm in Virginia but alas, the RR I love in Colorado is no more - but the scenery is still great! Welcome fellow RIo Grande fan.
Back to Trainboard Thanks guys for all the welcome threads. Much appreciated. I have "communicated" with a few of you before when still in the UK. Its good to hear from you all again. I've started a new layout in a somewhat unusally shaped basement which is definetely giving me a few thoughts on how to build my model. I've been able to utilize some of the baseboards that I had built back in Lancing, but after using every bit of wood, plywood and mdf that I brought with me, I've had to start building my own baseboards. I'm using the 'L' girder method prefered over here and have found it to be a strong and solid system. So now with a bit of luck, Rio Grande along with my own ficticious railroad and a little bit of ATSF will be running soon in Monument.
Welcome aboard! There's a Grande' bunch of folks who model the D&RGW here, and some very talented photographers as well. Feel free to ask questions, and remember, the only dumb question is the one you didn't ask....
Goosefest May 8 & 9 Ron, you won't want to miss this event in Golden, CO; it would be about an hour drive from Monument to Golden. I have not yet posted all the photo's/video's from last years event, but I have a few shots online of these Rio Grande Southern engines to give you a feel. http://www.trainweb.org/rradventures/RRAdventures_Colorado/2009-05-09_Colorado_Railroad_Museum.htm :tb-cool: :tb-cool: :tb-cool: :tb-cool:
Charlie, Yes I was, but I'm blowed if I could remember under what name. Address was Lancing, West Sussex. When Jim was the moderator. I left the Uk in September of 07
Returning Myself Hey Wunderwuff, Although I'm just returning myself from a TB absence, allow me to welcome you back as well. My own trips abroad have been fairly limited, but I think I'd be pleased to be in most corners in the Commonwealth. Still, I'm American to the core, and Colorado is my home. Always will be, I hope. There's a railfan meeting later this month, after Stourbridge Lion's Goosefest, in fact the two Saturdays following (15th and the 22nd) in Palmer Lake (just up the road 10 mins). Details are here on my blog. I hope to be there one of the two weekends. The guys there are usually quite open and love to talk.
