Hi all, I have been trying to find the road numbers of the two F-B units [7's or 9's] that MKT had. Found a bunch of photos, but can't make out the numbers, or if they had a number at all. Here's a couple of shots that I have found: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1643712 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=53630&nseq=3 Anybody have any ideas, Thanks, Allen...
Im showing F7B as #75F and F9B as #75E. these are shown in the book Katy Recollections by Louis Marre & Gregory Sommers
Awesome! Thank you very much. I have just the N scale Intermountain F7B to paint now :we-biggrin: A book that I don't have and that I should get. Could I bother you for one more question? Are the road numbers located on the car body or not. It's hard to tell from the pics that I have seen. Regards, Allen...
My information shows that only two F B units made it to the green paint scheme. The numbers 75E and 75F that Bill gives are correct. However, both were F-9Bs that were originally purchased in 1955 from EMD. The numbers were very small and located on the side between the hand rails above the rear (non F end) stirrup step. A small F was applied in the same location at the "front" of the unit.
Thanks Russ. That would explain why I couldn't see them in the pictures! :tb-wink: I will probably still use the F7B that I have on hand as it will be close enough in my books to pass for a F9B. Thanks for all the info from both of you! A great help. Regards, Allen...
