When Round 2 announced the licensing agreement for the Classic Metal Works tooling on April 26, 2017, it was mentioned that the agreement included an option to purchase the tooling after five years. It looks like Round 2 has exercised that option. https://www.round2corp.com/round-2-announces-the-return-of-classic-metal-works/

This news is encouraging, but I am still hoping to see the 1973 Chevy short bed pickups released in N scale in the not to distant future. ;)

Could they make a '73 long bed Heavy Half? That's what I had.

Round 2 has tooled 3 different grilles, and 2 different pickup boxes for the HO model, so that they can produce the 1973-74, the 1975-76 and the 1977-79 Fleetside and step-side versions of the pickup. The June HO release will be a 1976 step-side short wheelbase Chevy pickup, but nothing has been mentioned about doing the long wheelbase pickups with 8-ft Fleetside or step-side beds.

I do hope they will offer the same options for the N scale pickups. And yes, I would also really like to see a long wheelbase version for the N scale model. Those are far more common than the short wheelbase pickups!

One thing I have noticed is that Round 2 makes you work a lot harder to find out what is planned for release in the Mini Metal line than when Bill and Joe owned the brand.
