MRL is getting rid of their F45's and here's a chance to save the 390 and have it repainted into BN green! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/preserve-burlington-northern-emd-f45-locomotive/ I'm not sure if I'll be able to donate or not though.
Very sad. Only 5 days left????? Why dont they contact an operating museum or tourist line? Somebody call Rod Stewart hes got the cash.lol Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Well.........there's always this one. At least it LOOKS like an F45, even if it doesn't run. http://www.izaakwaltoninn.com/luxury-railcars
Never in a million years would I have thought about gutting a locomotive and turning it into a house.
MRL is my favorite modern RR, and the F45 is one of my favorite locos, so I'd love to see 390 saved, but it sounds like awfully short notice to raise $75K........unless someone wants a loco. Maybe the Izaac Walton Inn needs a new cabin! Not only is the F45 cabin a neat idea, but they left the cab intact, and if you look at the living room picture, the cabin faces the BNSF mainline, so you can sit in your F45 on a leather sofa and watch 20 to 30 trains a day roll by, including the Empire Builder.
The GN F45 is nice. But I wonder.... Especially for what they charge to rent it. It sits right by a road, and when the site is busy, there are people wandering all over the place. Not good for privacy and quiet, I'd believe.
