    All,
Here is what I did with the articles I photo copied Between 1970? to 1990? which I thought were worth saving from my Magazine collection all in THREE RING NOTEBOOKs . I Have since added to the ALCO Notebook.

When I downsized my magazine collection, I cut out and saved articles, placing them into sheet protectors. This makes them into a nice "book", which I can page through, and the articles can withstand handling. Sure saved a lot of self space in the process!

I sorted them into prototype and model RRing categories. I have an N scale binder. And all other scales binder. A Milwaukee Road specific model RR binder. One for MILW prototype articles. One for all other prototype articles.

me i save every thing in folders in my computer along with an indexing sheet to tell what folder/ page there in ect.
main folder is call Train stuff, then many folders named for different thing in that folder. really need to make a tree folder like in genealogy programs. i have not figgered out how to do that yet nor have i spent any time trying to figger that out.

Long ago I made an Excel sheet that lists useful articles in prototype-oriented magazines I have, like Trains, Railfan, CTC Board, Railroad, Vintage Rails and Railpace. That way if I am planning a vacation or whatever, I can easily find maps and railfanning tips. I'm aware that change is ever-present, but the articles give me something to go on.

While my prototype magazine collection is of use to me, most of the modeling magazines are not and I now have very few. The old modeling articles seem stale and obsolete. Product reviews and paint color listings from manufacturers long-gone, DC throttle builds and photos of superb layouts I can't hope to duplicate, all seemed quite useless to me. I'm happy to have reclaimed the space these consumed.

Being that I once worked for a Legal and Corporate Stationers Printing Co. At the time 1998 - 2002 had access to Free Paper as well as standard reams of paper. To this day I insist on Acid Free paper.

I hope you have this collection all backed up, off computer. It would be tragic to lose it in a glitch or crash.

Boxcab yes i have routine back ups. ive learned many years ago to have extra hard drives as back ups... i back up every week on some things and every month on others. my main system has two back up drives installed and i have 4 other drives that have the most important files and stashed in the big safe. aint nobody toting that thing off with out a crane..... i use 4TB hard drives as i need that much room. pretty soon im gunna need bigger drives. my other hobby is computers so i have lots of spare parts .......

I am beginning to wonder just how many proposed engines there were, which we've never known about.

    All,
This project all started with my Late Parents suggesting that I organize what I had. My Dad, placed the articles in different stacks AL-ALCO, E -EMD, G -GE.
However it was my Late Mother who went further, She Categorized to the specific Model Featured in the article. This project could not have been done without their assistance!

    All ,
This was an Issue which was lost in transit .. between NY and FL. I Last saw it as I was unpacking what was Left of my magazine collection in GF, NY. Would anyone happen to have a Scanned Copy of the EMD DH1 which was featured or an extra copy of this particular Issue of
    EXTRA 2200 SOUTH ?
