I got a chance to photograph a primer unit, a new dash 9. Not too many of these units come to this area. This one has been on pusher duty for the last two weeks though so I've gotten a few different pics of it. This one was taken 5/2/04 in the pouring rain. [IMG]

Goll eee!! what'll they do next? Just imagine a prototype RR modeling the Undec RR in 1:1 scale. :D

PS: an excellent shot and in the rain too, nice work.

I can see a layout in someone's basement with nothing but undercorated units.

The sun came out a couple days later and I made this shot as they were heading toward the bridge to go back to the yard. 5/4/04

Well at least there is a NS on the side as the other angle made me think that there was only the number board. [IMG]

Very different. Why did they do this?

My understanding is that NS needs the power now. They feel they can paint them when time permits.

That is an excellent photo, especially for anyone interested in modeling details of the loco. STill it does offer a bit of different color to a layout featuring only the NS. Thanks for sharing.

These were taken on the old Southern mainline in southern Indiana (New Albany), just across the river from Louisville, KY. It was cool to finally see one in the area.

I have seen quite a few of these "stealth" units on the NS... Dash 9's are common, but I think I have even seen SD70's too...

NS does take delivery of the units in primer and cycles them thru their shops for painting when they can... I guess it gets them new units faster and they probably save a few $$ in the process.

When you have the special NS "glasses", you see the Horsehead paint scheme! [IMG]

Still the same pusher set this week. I wonder how this unit would look in a Southern paint scheme? [IMG]
