I see alot of western style wagons listed on the net. I would really like to be able to use some of these in my early O logging diorama. I know that the old 20 Borax mule team wagon kits are 1/48, but I am having a difficult time determining what the scale of everything else is. Does anyone know the scale of the following products:
Life-like (covered wagon, circle A wagon and stagecoach kits)?
    Athearn (various wagon kits).
    Miniature masterpieces (various wagon kits).
    Revell (various wagon kits).
    Any help would be appreciated.

Go to their websites- they all tell you what scale their products are in.

Use Walthers large scale catalog in either print or www.

Use the NMRA's model railroad manufacturers section on their extensive WWWs (NMRA.org).

    Use the ' kleinserien.de' webpages
to get the listings of all makers products made
    or sold in Germany.

Go to the various sites maintained
by the 'O' scale (and related names like Scale 7, .et al.) < and don't forget the N.G.> societies .

Go to the webpages of O SCALE MODELER:
or better yet buy a copy at BORDERS or
wherever (some KROGER GROCERIES have it) .

Lastly remember the Diecast vehicle sector
where LLEDO and CORGI , for example,- produce
large numbers of highly detailed wagons
in scales from 1:43-1:50 that are the best
available for the price. See Hatton's WWWs
    as an example.

Start searching the WWWs,going to hobby
shops, and reading model magazines. Look
into the YAHOO groups related to your
    interests.

    Good-Luck,PJB

    pjb,

Been there....done that. Problem is most of these items were marketed in the 1960's and earlier (in some cases). None of the boxes for the above mentioned brand name products state the scale on the outside. I often see listings on obscure and mainstream websites, I ALWAYS ask. I also ask if the seller/lister can measure the rear wheel (A known/close to known dimension as I have the prototypes to measure surrounding me here in Arizona....) unfortunately most sellers do not wish to break the seal to measure the wheel. At the prices asked I cannot say that I blame them.... But at the prices asked I won't buy it just to find out it is 1/32nd.....

I'd go to the O Gauge Railroading Magazine forum...then join & ask questions. They're a good bunch of guys who can probably help.

Here is a link to the home page from which you can access the forum.
