I am not in the G scale yet, as I have a collection of N and HO US trains (mostly SP). But I have once seen the Aristocraft GE 9-44CW and SD45, and I found them massive and wonderful. I would love to see nice layouts in G scale you would recommend in order to experience the different possibilites of this scale. Thank you for your contribution. Jean-Edouard
Heres all that remains of my outdoor RR. Remainder was removed for storage until next spring when I hope to rebuild it in a different location in the yard. Indoor layout is coming along well: Looks like I need to update some of these pics. Andre'
Yes sir. Bought from Menard's but Home Depot or Loews both have similar stuff. I bought 12 " wide stuff. After I had it up and running I wish I had taken the next wider shelving. However the 12" wide will accomodate two tracks wide if they are spaced properly. Andre'
Andre' You have now sparked my interest.I wonderd if I could use those and hold G Scale and thanks to you I now know I can. The possibility of mew having a train run arond my house just got easier
Eric L, All I can say is WOW. That is amazing. I would think that I was looking at the real thing - expect for all the trees around. Not that many trees in Southern Colroado. Eric
Rather than post a picture I'll just give you my G guage web site. www.wvrr.ca The History files are self explanatory (was once in N scale) and the Interior Division and Operations files are up to date. What's New and Archives go back about 5 years and more or less describe the building process along with a simple story line. There's also a short video in "About Us" Any questions just contact me. Enjoy. Dave
Hi Boxcab and Hemi, The live steamers are made by Accucraft. They burn butane, although some have converted theirs to coal-fired.
Here's a couple shots of our outdoor layout. You might have trouble spotting the actual garden railway in the first shot. The trolley is near the lower part of the screen, but there's another garden railway near the top of the picture. My Seaboard U25B smokes it up with the short train along the fence. And then there's Thomas, with his coaches running upgrade along the fence. This line is basically a large loop, with a passing siding at the bottom of the yard. There is also a smaller loop near our deck, which allows us to run one train, which another is going around the big loop. The smaller loop has 6ft diameter curves, so it's limited to the trolley or our small 0-4-0 steam engine.
I thought I'd mention that Gary Woolard has posted some amazing photos of people's large scale outdoor layouts recently at www.mylargescale.com. To see them, go here: http://www.mylargescale.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=23 and look for the posts authored by Gary Woolard.
Thomas sure gets around! :teeth: Who manufactures that U boat? I can't remember....? USA Trains? Boxcab E50
It's an Aristo Craft. Really nice running unit. HOWEVER, if you ever waht to know where your bad spots are in the track, run something like that!! Because of its wheel base and being rather rigid, it picks up every low spot or cross level difference. Our other engines are Thomas, a Bachmann Trolley, and a Bachmann 0-4-0, all small wheel base locomotives. Oh, and a Bachmann christmas handcar.
I was thinking it had sprung trucks. Almost bought one a few years ago. Was just going to make it a static display. Boxcab E50
