Curn, AWESOME ! Bring that to the GTE show Sept 26-27 in San Jose or Pleasanton Nov 29-29. Very well thought out. Joe, amazingly creative as always. You are right about the kids ! .
Joe, Your vision, creativity, and PRODUCTIVITY are astounding. I love what you're planning, and can't wait to see more progress pictures!:thumbs_up:
Still working pretty slowly... Track consist of MTL flex and Wright turnouts. My main work now is going further up on the scenery and landscape with styren plates to be shaped with a hobby knife, then painting ties (for the moment only rails are painted) and glueing ballast. All this is likely to last a few dozens hours.... Dom
Heine, its so cool. I never though of picture frame layout. The Easter egg layout is very interesting also.
Heine, EXCELLENT shelf layout, lots of natural curves, track work. In need to get a bigger attache case, your's looks more interesting than my oval Cute egg .
Here's some pictures of my very in-progress 1x3' layout. Handlaying Z Scale Track with Code 40 Rail | PEEBS.ORG
What's NOT on my workbench ? Rob Ray's latest Pair-o-dice module !!! As we were coming up on show season, Rob was busy lasering everyone elses demands and needs so I took charge of the module for a weekend. Rob's going to make this into an awesome lumber mill based module to show off all those wood chip and center beam cars you all see. Well, I can assure you, nowhere near all of what you've seen ! So here is the module I delivered today (use your imagination to visualize all his cars surrounded by lumber processing yards, saw mills, soaking ponds, etc. along with all his cars: (yes, it's standing on it's end - easier to wire when it's on a bench) Here's a peek at the bottom: Since two of the turnouts were mounted over framework, I had to mount the Tortoises remotely. Use simple 0.025" wire in a guide tube to drive it. Very little swing loss occurs. Of course, we build to the Z-Bend Track standard so wire accordingly. Red/black 18 gauge buss wire runs between each end with local blocks for various distributed locations like track feeders, frog power, etc. Since we are all DCC, we also distribute the full 5A Command station in case someone, like this module, wants to employ power blocks. By installing circuit breakers around all of these turnouts, any derailments don't take down all the of the surround module's power. This is supplied on the User pins 22-25. .
I got the module back from Jeff yesterday (Thanks Jeff, Great job on the business end of this module!), so this weekend I will start on the scenery. Goals: 1) First up is the hard part... Filling in the cut out ties, then masking the foam to paint the track roof brown. 2) Next is carve the terrain and river. 3) Then the earth colored dye plaster cloth goes down. 4) Backdrop gets first coat... Big Sky Blue! 5) Ballast. That's a lot for the weekend, and I still have people wanting me to make decals and stuff too.
I'll bring over my tools and boxes of scenery stuff. Let's get this into prime-time for NEXT weekend's show ! .
hi all, First picture is my 'German' layout. Most buildings are scratchbuild. It is still unfinished, but stored now because lack of space right now. ...And because had the oppertunity to visit Caboose Hobbies in Denver while on a business trip in the USA. I simply had to have that tiny UP GP35 of MTL I saw in the shop. This loco and this business trip started my D&RGW interest. Second picture is an US style switching layout in progress.
