Jerry - Gotta love those Santa Fe units - Lookin' good dude! Red Rock - Where did you see the Southern GP60? I just noticed that your tag line says Southern Indiana - I'm in Cincinnati, and caught that unit here last year. My shot was #2 in a consist, and not nearly as nice as yours! Dave
Jerry, I am detailing an SD40 for my yard switcher, and I'm using yours as a reference to accompany the slug. Great work!! Craig, those Z scale coupler on the AutoMax look great! Is there an easy place on the end to screw the coupler into?
WOW, what a show!! Thanks guys! My tunnel motors arrived, nuff said? More shots here: http://www.railimages.com/gallery/N
Dave, the 4610 was running the Waddy(KY) turn last week. Hopefully it will be around for a while, I'd like to catch it out on the open rail. This shot was taken in the Louisville NS main yard. She is a beauty! Red Rock
William - That weathering looks cool! Do you know how he did the rust tint on the top? Very prototypical SP! Dave
Great to see SNFF on TO...what a great variety of things to see and marvel at... So here is my contribution...
I did this quick and easy little project this past week. I saw this prototype roll through recently and I tried to loosely mimic its looks.
Wait! Wait! I'm back! Great time in Sydney with Jason and the Sydney N Scale. More on that tomorrow. My first attempt at custom decals. More on this on page five of my Rail Images album. The NMRA Scale Rail magazine had an articvle on speeder tracks that inspired me to build one. This project took me about two hours. I used code 40 rail for the speeder track; the main is Peco code 55. Now back to the beginning to see what else has been posted. Thanks!
Pete, When I saw your pic, just above, I wondered who did it. I thought I had seen most of your layout - I guess not. Its looking good. I think of all the SNFF's, I have seen todate that are non-Atlas, this one has been the most successful - a good number of posts and pics.
well here is my addition to the snff tonight. let's start with a plan for the galesburg railroad days train show, this is going to be our layout that is to take the entire carl sandberg college gymnasium. now how about a few custom paints of mine. Rick, I've shown it before--unfinished--on the layout tours. This is the loop above Downtown. I just got a few more buildings down, and some WS scattered about, and the rails "painted." This was a quick grab with a 12mm (18mm equivalent for 35mm). Afraid I'm going with the "diffuse" backdrop for now. I've had to cut back a bit on everything, but it'll do for now. Pete
Oh, I did pour the harbor too, including the 20-foot extension not shown here where all the freighters dock. There will be many improvements here in the next few weeks. The first will be roughing up the waters--it's working real well on test panels. Then a big surprise . . . Pete
This is a project that I have started. Going to repaint a group of passenger cars ans Kato F-3's into the Northern Pacifics two tone 'Pine tree' scheme. This in the tail end car. I extended the back of the car farther to the rear, and painted the interior, and then painted the exterior. Car #1 almost done
Wow. SNFF is just as big here, as at Atlas. This is my water car from the other pic: Tank is made from brass tubes, hose is solder, valve at teh end is a gladhand from an airhose. Since this photo I added a pump at one end and also a brakewheel.
Chris, nice car! I never thought of using solder as a modeling material!! That's what I like about SNFF - innovation and tricks!
