has anyone other than me noticed on kato's web site, the photos of the snoots, the nose comes out and over the front walkway. i dont know if im seeing things wrong and they arent put together right, or if they are really like that. please let me know.
Not to worry, it's normal. I just looked at the Kato site to see what you were talking about. The Kato snoot is based on a UP prototype, which has a 116" nose, corrugated radiator grills, and no anticlimber; this nose arrangement leaves very little room on the front end. UP was the only railroad to get SD40-2 snoots set up this way; the Kato unit is correct for one group of UP snoots. All other SD40-2 snoots, namely ATSF and KCS, came with 123" noses with anticlimbers. CP and BCR versions had 102" noses, if I remember correctly. ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
Some of the pics on the Kato site show complete locos. and these are ok. Others seem to just have some body parts propped up for photography. The nose does, of course cover a lot of the front porch. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com
