Hello from Texas! (Howdy from Texas?) Anyway, I was told this was a great forum to talk about model trains, so here I am. I have been into model trains since I was a little kid, specifically HO scale. Used to go and see my grandpa's layout and he helped me get me started. I have since inherited a lot of what he used to run, a lot of it being 10-15+ years old now, but most of it still runs well. Been slowly getting everything cleaned and refurbished. I never really had the space to run anything proper. Was only able to set up on the floor for about a week before I had to pull it up so I could walk around. Well, in about a week, I will be moving and will have an entire (shared) hobby room dedicated to my own proper table and layout. Been really excited to finally sink my teeth into this hobby and really set up something that will last. I already have a track plan drawn up and am currently making plans for table construction. Looking forward to posting my progress in the coming weeks and seeing what I can learn from you all.
@CardScientist Welcome and glad you will finally have space for a layout. It's something most of us struggle with. Know about what size yet? Anything is better then the floor or the dining room table. Which is where most of us started
Thanks for the welcome! Right now I have a 6'x10' layout drawn up in AnyRail. Tried to have a 4'x8' growing up, but nowhere to put it. I had the plywood, but it had to stay in the garage until my parents had to pull the car in. So it was never up very long. Once I get the moving details ironed out, I'll give another once over the track plan and post it in the track plan layout thread area.
