Does anyone here have any information on the old South Orient line in Texas. It supposedly is owned by TXDot, and leased by Grupo Mexico, but I was wondering if it is in operation. Are any trains running?
I'd recommend a visit to the Railspot discussion group on Yahoo!. You may have to join to post, but you should get answers. This group covers RR happenings in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas & Louisiana (and Kansas, I believe), and has a lot of knowledgeable folks. Another good source is Wes Carr's Southwest Shorts site- it covers railroading in TX, KS and NM. Also, there are 80 pics on the South Orient alone, plus the story on all the operators. Texas Pacifico site-Nice little website on the Texas Pacifico, with pics of Ferromex diesels. Hope this all helps.....
