We just lost HEP. The trailing locomotive had to be shut down. The lead loco is now supplying both HEP and traction. Will be slow over Glorieta Pass. Hope they can get us another engine in Albuquerque or Belen. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2

How long are you staying in Los Angeles? If you need any pointers on hobby shops, RR museums, clubs, rail transit and railfan/prototype stuff, PM me and I'll get you my phone number. There's quite a lot in the area. We even have a rotating modular RR exhibit at our Central Library until August (to commemorate Union Station's 75th anniversary).

Haha so the train ride IS the destination! I'm planning on taking Southwest Chief to Chicago and then Lakeshore Limited to NYC later this year. My first coast-to-coast land trip ever!
