SRT-FAN's Rail adventures (*56k Hazard*) I want to go on train 901, unfortunately the train was sold out, so I hatched an alternate rail trip by cathing Train 75 (Diesel Railcar Express, Bangkok-Udon Thani) to Ayuttaya then catch Train 136 (Rapid, Ubon Ratchathani-Bangkok)back home and I'd like to showcase my plan's results. Enjoy the ride. I stepped into Bangkok railway station and bought a ticket for Train 75 and jaunted to concourse 5 for 2 doses of steam
On 0800 Local time the stationmaster and Bangkok Tower released Train 901 for departure happy passengers And the race is on!
I then skedaddled to concourse 11 and board the train 75 and we go on in style a stuffed steamer life carries on We get stuck at Yommarat A bunch of annoyingly bored motorists.
Sam Sen, here we come. we stop at Bang Sue If your realtor doesn't mention about the horns, think twice aobout this home. Hemi's favourite shop
we left Bang Khen behind grabbed some more pax at Lak Si We waits abit at Don Mueng At Rang Sit we find a camp car of mechanized MOW gang in the hole The engineer then opened the tap, and I enjoyed the music of 6 Cummins NTA855R1 going at full throttle
I stepped off Train 75 an caught this "Papa, Byebye" moment Then our Great Grandad comes Boys, I' thirsty
I then buy a ticket for train 136 to get home and come out to wait for my train He's here (sorry I didn't readjust my camera) We left Rang Sit and get a 20km/h slow order all the way to Don Mueng
As sky turns darker we raced on I finally get back to Bangkok at about 1845 and snapped some disjointed photos around the station
I then got the bad news: Train 902 has suffered some major mechahical faults at Lak Si station and transferred its passenger to Train 210. So I'd like to end this adventurous trip with a picture of Train 210 taking concourse 2
Steam double-heading back-to-back like diesels... The only other place I've seen that is China. Interesting things like that are why I always look forward to your trip reports.
As always, an excellent set of photographs to illustrate your exciting trip! Those steam locos look superb! Your photographs always capture the excitement of the trips. Great stuff.
Thank you SRT-FAN! Like everytime, your shots are awesome, and I'm in a hurry for my next trip to Thailand sometimes during next winter, I don't know exactly when.... Just a question about the steamer on the above photos. Do you know where she has been built? Is it a japanese design? Dom
