Sophon, that looks like a wonderful celebration.
Did they run the steamers back-to-back because they couldn't be turned in Bangkok, or for another reason?
Looking forward to more photos of your trip....thanks!

Very interesting! I know you have posted many other photos of the SRT, but can you tell us what the track gauge is? Also I would like to know more about the steamers. What size driving wheels? How old are they? Thanks. :teeth:

Hank, we don't have any turntable left in Bangkok to turn a loco or cars. If you want it turned you have to lace them up and send them to the Yommarat wye and that clogs up the eastern route and most of the station don't have a turntable except some of terminals and loco house to turn a loco with 1 bad cab.

Fitz, The SRT use meter gauge. SRT no. 824 is a Pacific (4-6-2) and the 953 is a Mikado (2-8-2) both were built in Japan. I'll ask soeone who knows more for some info.

And now, we're back on with the show

    Concrete structures?

Sophon, first, I really enjoy your photos, but I am wondering about the concrete supports shown in several photos with nothing on top of them. They look like they are to support an elevated rail line. Are these part of the Bangkok rapid transit line construction that was stopped because it was getting too expensive?

I really like the architecture of that building you show as "It all started here 110 years ago." Is that a station?
