Hi Guys: Im modeling the area around Alamosa Colorado (San Luis and Rio Grande Railroad) in N scale -- Ive never messed with static grass in the past. What I would like to know is what length static grass flock would be best to use on the layout for short mowed grass, and for a field of weeds? thanks TIM
Well, short mowed grass is maybe one inch tall, so divided by 160 gives 6mil or 0.15mm. That length probably doesn't exist. 2mm static grass corresponds to just over a foot in N scale, and that is as short as I have found. 1mm supposedly exists, and a quick google found 0.5mm snow; but that is white.
Cool -- thats kinda where I was headed as well -- I think I'll use standard flock for shorter stuff -- and for the more... Wild... areas the 2mm -- I need to build my applicator, but I think I have all the parts already, so no biggie there thanks TIM
