It's talked about much more than seen, but I have found photos of real working steam in post-Communist East Germany (okay, the eastern half of unified Germany), Poland, Romania and the former Yugoslavian countries. However, I have found no examples from the former Soviet republics. I've heard vague references to it, but with no knowledge of specific locations or operations, I can't find it. Is this steam just a myth? I find that hard to believe.
