Nice! What you said is so true. *Sigh* If trucking had not taken the form we know today, just think of all the track miles and maybe even station buildings we could still possibly have in service today. :(

Nice work! Those figures are all hand painted? Sharp eyes and steady hands!

I enjoy all three - kits, kit-bashing, and scratch building. Most of what I've done lately is scratch, largely out of necessity, but also because I find it more satisfying. It's always fun though to open up a brand new kit and just follow the instructions.

Some of my most recent builds, going back over the past couple of years:

    My scratch built depot (http://dmirhillcitysub.blogspot.com/search/label/Depot):

I usually use kits. I have Walthers, like stuff, atlas, life like, and a couple of others. I have a few buildings that my dad scratch built back in the 80's and I will be trying my hand at scratch building a fire tower here soon. I have taken a couple of the kits and did a little kit bashing as well.

This started out as a Heljan kit. I replaced a wall with a roll up door and added the dock. I didn't like the European looking sky lights, so I cut them off and placed styrene shingles instead. truck door.JPG overhead.JPG long wall.JPG roof elevation.JPG office elevation.JPG long elevation.JPG

I built the loading platform for it too, it is still packed away with the front steps as well. I finished the structure right before we moved in November, only broke the one post in the move! This structure will be on the opposite part of the layout, so it won't have a home for a long time.
