How do you like the Black Chalk paint? Are your white stripes made with White Chalk? And the Yellow ones?
I really like the Chalkboard paint. Its kinda shiney...but...my plan is to take chalk dust and work it into the chalkboard paint now that road striping is done. This should tone down the 'shine'...kinda like erasing stuff on a school chalkboard. A black chalkboard takes on a weathered grayish look afterwards. At least thats my plan. All the stripes where done with acrylic paint pens. The ones I bought are easy to clean. I found I could actually pull the tips out of the pens and clean them throughly with just warm/hot water. https://www.amazon.com/Acrylic-Pain...1ed1e&pd_rd_wg=ebBJ6&pd_rd_i=B087CDP6QY&psc=1 The paint pens have Water-Based, Permanent & Waterproof Ink and a hard 0.7mm Extra Fine Tip....which makes some really close to scale width lines....and the tips look to be a hard plastic and dont 'mush out' with a lot of use like some of the others I have tried in the past... THE WIFE bought me a second set as I couldnt find anywhere to buy just the white pen by "Paintigo Acrylic Paint Pens". With all the parking lots and lane markings I did the first one in the original set set ran out of ink/paint...LOL. .
The lighting of 'Jeans Valley' is progressing. Climbing under kitchen cabinets for 2+ hours to wire in 12 LED lights makes me realize I hope my back and knees hold out !! Only 54 more lights to go !!!
Thank you Barstow Rick !!! *Said tongue in cheek* I have now taken on "Wireus Repairus II" I have pulled the wire splices apart on 4 of the small decorative street lamps ( so far) trying to reach inside the cabinets and wire them into the 3V buss line UNDER the layout !! They could have at least made these LED wire leads 7 inches long instead of 4.....
George, your results should far outweigh your agony. At least that's what we, your envious TB friends say, also possibly your chiropractor. LOL
Fun isn't it. The rewards once everything is wired in is worth it. I love the lights at night. Looks spiffy.
I'll post another pic later. Got 11 more lights wired this afternoon... Have to wait for the sun to set so its a bit darker in THERR RV... .
The North End of "Jeans Valley" is LIT !!! Lights are done to the only intersection in town You can see a dark area towards the middle. There are 5 more lights right there that are gonna be a ***** to get to. There is a inaccessible void below the layout there. That is where the duct comes in between the cabinets for the heat vent at the aisle ! It is going to entail cutting a hole thru one of the cabinet sides....extending the lights LED wire leads...and fishing them out of the void to hook them to the 3v buss in the next cabinet !!! .
Next we need to see an illuminated passenger train rolling through, then it would be Dead Solid Perfect! Great work there George!
George doesn't like passenger trains. Lite or otherwise. That's why I sent his wife one. Heeheehee which stands for heeheehee!! Or LMAO !!
There you go. Good one and well played. I want pictures. Oh that's right that doesn't seem to be a problem. How about lit cabooses with marker lights or EOT-D's /FRED's although I don't know what Fred would have to do with it. He and Ethel left on the last train out. Okay, that was bad.
I am waiting for my ESU lighting kits to come in, and I ordered enough for a dozen trains. I will be back in Arizona in July and it may be a bit too hot in Phoenix
Lit up cabooses!! C'mon George! You can do it! Don't forget the grumpy conductor with java spilled on his chest shaking a fist at the engineer!
Well...took my pain meds this morning. Thinking I may go out and get under the layout and wire up some more lights...
