I'm looking for a method to make templates to produce thing like roof trusses and bridge supports. I don't have any problems doing the actual layout ,but I use the wood method with wax papaer over that and in N scale the pieces are so flimsy that a lot of times I break them trying to remove them from the templates I've made. I was thinking of maybe coating the wood with something but I'm afraid that it will stain the pieces I'm working on. Let me here from you guys. Thanks Pat
Why don't you try putting a piece of glass over the template. Then you could build your work on top of the glass. Seems you could then just slide a knife blade under your work to gently break it free if it happens to stick. This would also give you a perfectly flat surface to build on.
