As you may know, Jeff Merill visited me in Switzerland and we went to the Luzern Railroad Museum. He is very curious about details so his head come to close to the Rotary Plow. :)

Fortunately he's still well and very hungry!

As you can see, I survived. What a great day. I was met at the local train station by Jürg and new Zed-head Daniel, a Traindriver for BLS (and his girl friend). I think Daniel likes his girl friend more than trains tho and it may lead to some significant financial distraction.
Jürg has his collection of many trains proudly displayed on the walls up to his studio/workshop. Locos from Marklin, MTL, AZL and Zthek with Marklin passenger and freights from every source. I got to see the John Cummings diarama in person, very nice but he has been working on a wild-west scene of the Torsja likes. Very nice mine scene. There were trestles everywhere, all scratch built as he says "no one was every machine made, always made from scraps of whatever". His continued collection of Lionel's and Gray Bros "scenes" are being strategically placed like a jig saw puzzle to be later sealed in by streets. It is a really great looking southwestern town.
A really nice home cooked meal topped off the evening before the train ride on to the hotel for work.
Pix posted on my Rail Images page:

What was really nice was a trip down to the Train Museum in Luzern. There were locos and passenger cars from every era and many examples in "garden railway" size to (e.g. 5") There were many locos opened up so you could clearly see how they worked, especially the motors. One (included in the Rail Images folder) had a 16 pole motor the way I saw it. There was a steam loco beautifully cut open with color coordinated designations:

Thanks again for the great day and the wonderful meal. Weathering techniques and supplies will be on the way after I return.

Great to see you are having a good time Jeff. I was reading up on the CT Electronik decoders, and decided I don't want too many of them, as they don't have FX, the functions just turn on and off, but no ditch lights or beacons, or mars light effects.

Might as well hunt out the Uhlenbrock 73400 decoders. Get the ones with wires not plug.

    Have fun! ;)

    Z-Scale show in Oslo

Hi Jürg. I have usually held the Z-Scale (ZMOD) show in April. So you may get the chance to visit us at this show in 2007. The exact time and date is determined on when the most z-scalers can get time off from their significant other (wife/girlfriend) :))
I would probably get the final date some time in January early February.

Maybe you can bring with you some Z-Scale stuff to display your self also? :)

I'll try to schedule. We have a sensor manufacturing site in Mariehamm Åland. I'm sure that they will have some quality control with a new sensor version in April :)
And they serve Karelian hot pot pork stew, not mutton. I'll take a glass of Kahru beer please.

PS: Mariehamm Åland is as far as I know in Sweden and not in Norway. ;)

It is part of Finland, but close to Stockholm. Closest excuse I can get to Koln Germany or Zurich, Switzerland. Just one of the 6500 "islands" in the sea.

Torsja, I really try to visit your show in Oslo next april. I think I will stay for a couple of days. Of course I'll bring some stuff with me, maybe a small Diorama from John Cubbin. Let's see.
