Walking back to my temporary quarters here in Cordele the other night, I crossed the CSX tracks and heard a southbound whistling for the numerus crossings in town. I decided to stop & see what we had coming this way, and lo and behold it was a 70s flashback- two B30-7s with an SD45 trailing.

Well, the B30-7s were real, but the SD45 (a CEFX leaser) is actually an SD40-2in an SD45 body, but still.......if I squinted hard enough, I could almost imagine an all-SCL lashup of U33Bs and an SD45.

So yes, CSX still uses older 4-axle GEs as road power, leading or trailing.

    That 70s Lashup, part 2

Again, another blast-from-the-past power consist, an SD45, SD40-2 and SD40 leading a long string of autoracks thru Cordele headed for Waycross.

OK, all three were rent-a-wrecks, and the SD45 was actually an SD40 in an SD45 body (prime mover swap-out), but still.......using junkers to haul autos.........only on CSX.

You got that right. And it's a sad comedown for some really classic Fallen Flags.
