A New Era Continues… Our all-new 4 Axle Diesel Locomotive is the classic EMD GP30.

    Preorder now: https://bit.ly/RivetCounterGP30

Our model combines smooth operating performance with unparalleled railroad, road number, and era-specific details that includes industry-leading LED lighting features and the ESU-designed “PowerPack” with two supercapacitors ($50 retail value) to prevent your locomotive from stalling out on dirty track or yard switches. The EMD GP30 is also our first Rivet Counter HO Scale EMD locomotive to feature LED-lit front, rear, and side walkway lights.

We’re offering six (6) roadnames with multiple paint scheme variations in the first run plus Union Pacific B Units and CSX “RDMT” Slugs which are now available for the first time ever as plastic models. In addition, we’re including a special “museum version” of Union Pacific no. 844, the GP30 that was responsible for FEF 4-8-4 no. 844 being renumbered to the 8444 from 1962 to 1989. The vintage diesel was donated to the Nevada State Railroad Museum by UP and is now used to pull excursion trains out of Boulder City. Just like the prototype, our model wears an adaptation of the Armour Yellow scheme with faded gray paint. It also features ditch lights on both ends.

    Roadnames and paint schemes:

    • Chicago & North Western/OY scheme
    • Chicago & Northwestern/OY repaint
    • CSX/RDMT Slug/Stealth
    • Rio Grande/Billboard lettering
    • Rio Grande/Flying lettering
    • Norfolk & Western/Pevler Blue
    • Pennsylvania/Brunswick Green
    • Union Pacific/As-Delivered “A Unit”
    • Union Pacific/As-Delivered “B Unit”/Freight and Passenger
    • Union Pacific 844/Nevada State Railroad Museum version with ditch lights

As you can see, CSX and Union Pacific aren’t the only roadnames to boast unique features in this run. In fact, we’re offering Chicago & North Western without dynamic brakes, Rio Grande with different styles of lettering and full gyra-light packages, Norfolk & Western Pevler Blue with high short hood and dual control stands, and Pennsylvania Railroad with signature Trainphone equipment running the length of the long hood on each side.

Indeed, a new era continues with the EMD GP30. In fact, our first run spans three decades with as-delivered or “early” versions and later versions from the 1980s and early 90s. Thanks to our tooling, we’ll also be able to offer rebuilt or “modern” versions in the future like Chessie GP30Ms, Burlington Northern and BNSF GP39Es, and the Santa Fe GP30u.

Preorder your favorite roadnames and paint schemes by Monday, February 28th through ScaleTrains.com and Select Retailers™ for delivery this fall.
