Wow. I haven't been called one of those for a long time For those that couldn't make it, we had quite the good time. The beer was cold, the food was good, and the conversation revolved around trains- what could be better. Hope to see some more people next time. Eric
Geeky: I'm glad to hear it was just things, noone hurt. It's not safe anywhere anymore, or so it seems at times. Hopefully your insurance won't be a hassle. Hope like all get-out to make the next one, Uncle Sam allowing!
Thanks for the sympathetic comments and emails about getting my stuff stolen. My neighbor actually saw the guys as they were leaving and probably could have called 911 and gotten them caught. Instead she called and left me a message on my office phone at work. "some strange hispanic men are leaving your house with things held under their shirts" I tend to be nosey about what happens in my neighborhood. I stopped a girl from getting raped a couple years ago just because I had my eyes and ears open and just yelled at the guy from across the street. There is that fear of getting involved and hurt but the main thing is to just make noise and make it clear Mr' criminal is being watched and followed. Sadly a eleven year old girl was kidnapped a couple blocks from my house just a few days ago. I wonder why it isn't national news.
WOW!!!!!!! Some how I missed the "On the sad side note" statement. It's sad how people more often than not just look the other way now and let these things happen.
Geeky, sorry to hear about the theft Any plans for the next get-together? Hopefully Jeremiah, Darren and I will be able to make it, too... Darren is right about summer being a touch time for schedules - so how about early September?
Well I suggested the 14th but there could be other options. There is a train show on the 31st and 1st comingup. It's a tinplate trainshow predominantly, but it's still trains. I plan to be there the 31st.
Geeky, I was p[lanning on going to the tinplate show on the 31st so that would work for me. See you there. Eric
I am going to the saturday of the tinplate event. I'll be hanging out with a friend of mine who did most of the model work for those adventures in willoughby video's that came out about fifteen years ago. Perhaps we need an indentifiying mark so we can spot each other. I would suggest something along the lines of... look for the slack jawed guy with drool coming out the side of his mouth, but I think that won't work too well. lol see you guys saturday.
I'll be there around 11. I have to be back home later that afternoon so I need to start early. Anybody want to get together for some lunch? Or maybe we could meet prior to the door opening for some breakfast? See you there. Eric
You're trying to kill this poor fellow here!! Up by 9AM to 9:30AM, after going to bed by 4AM or so!! Work until Midnight, up until 4AM, maybe 4:30AM. Sometimes longer. Lunch might work better for me though.
Short notice, I know, but I am making a trip dow on Friday, to catch the Summer Ski Train this saturday... Anyone wanna meet up?
Short motice is my middle name. Unfortunately I am heading down to the Great Sand Dunes this weekend for some non-train fun, though I always seem to end up in or near alamosa yard for the morning local. he he he. We should plan a september gathering for everyone. Any ideas folks? We've done drinks and appetizers downtown, and an O scale train show so far.
I keep hoping I'm going to make one of these but somehow we keep picking date/times that I have plans that are more important than seeing my TrainBoard friends. I can't believe I just said that.
I haven't made up my mind--most all my decisions for photo ops hinge on the amount or lack of sunlight. I wanna catch the Ski Train near Tunnel 18, (but shoot from the top of the cut in the background) similar to Matt's shot: or west of Rollinsville with better light and composition: This shot west of Pinecliffe is nice, but favors late day sun: or lastly, (good light is a must in this canyon) a vertical format shot over the top of Tunnel 17, like so:
Folks, I am leaving Cheyenne at 10AM,, hope to see some of you! [ 22. August 2004, 00:31: Message edited by: HemiAdda2d ]
