I started a new plan that uses my ideas for the new layout. I think i got it! I couldn't sleep well last night so i got up and printed it out and laid it down. It fits and i think scarm and i got it this time! A few things here. The table isn't wide enough so i am adding a few shelf brackets to support the added weight and width. It sticks out about 21/2 inches.I still have to put spray foam down the cracks to make it stronger. Shots below.

I have been working on the railroad some. I have the trackwork done on the logging camp. Still have one turnout wire to do and four power wires to connect yet. I still need to move the right side mountain back to the edge of the back addition. I am going to have to get more track for both the mains and the logging track as well. Have some shots of the logging yard track. Laters

Taking a bit of a break Waiting for track. I am going to clean up the board and floor of the dust from the foam. I am sure the plaster is in that as well. That will help me breathe better. I am on Oxygen but the dust still could be a issue. I think i can build the addition of the trestle for the logging track while waiting for track. Laters all

I have started two projects now. One is a new mountain that can be removed so i can gain access to the track. The second is the longer bridge. I am going to use the other long trestle to help to make it longer. A couple of shots below.

Well, I goofed again. I mirrored the one side of the trestle twice and built both one side fits and the other side is or was way off. I have fixed it and is drying. This trestle is 22 inches long. Its the biggest one i ever made. its right around 4 inches high. After i get this part done i need to figure out where the track below goes under the trestle. I will need my airbrush to stain it. Time to check it out. Been awhile since i used it. One shot of the fun...

So, I am taking a break from the trestle. I am really beginning to hate the trestle. So, I started working on the logging camp mountain. Carving last night and finished it today and coated two coats of plaster cloth. Its still drying. Shots of the fun, Will show it when i get it on the layout.I am going o take a break for now. May gt and clean the track and try ans run some trains. maybe..

I made up my mind,( have one?) to build a all brand new trestle instead of trying to jury rig the one i have. I have the stringers done and am now getting ready to build bents. Now if i can remember how i did them. More Basswood coming up. Also i am getting a piece of Flex track for Atlas and that will fit the trestle. I think it will look better. Its the longest trestle i ever built. 21 inches long. I think thats why i had a hard time getting the old trestle to work right. Shots below.

    Nice!

Are the longitudinal pieces one-piece, or multiple pieces spliced together?

It will be interesting to watch this sub-project progress!

Both are solid 1 pieces. That was one of the issues i had with the old trestle. Instead of trying to use any of the old one i am making all new. Hope Hobby Lobby has enough wood for the bents. Plan on using 1/16th inch bass wood for the bents. I don't like Balsa wood. It breaks so easy. Basswood is a whole lot stronger.

Here s a shot of the finished stringer and first of the Bents. Hobby needs to get more basswood, they don't have enough for my needs. Shots below. I think this one will look so much better than the last trestle i tried to add on to. I plan to use one stick of Atlas Flex track on top. I think it will look better. Shots below.

The wood came in and i have been busy working on the bents. I am starting with the longest bents first. They are in the river. The rest are shorter and then the part going over the main line track will be a copy from a on line site. One shot below. Bad angle but one is at a angle for the river and the other is on the shore. River is a slant.

Been working at 1-2 bents at a time to make the trestle fit. 1 1/16" square wood in Basswood is the smallest wood i can get. So far i have 6 bents done. One shot below, Smoke

Down to last Bent to make. Trying to figure out what way to do the sides of the trestle. I do have a idea. Have to wait and see. This thing is gonna be a bear trying to stain it. Need it to be total built before i dare to stain it. I think i said it back a few posts ago that i never built this long a trestle. Three trestles and two bridges..Think i added enough water and rock facings. One shot below

All the bents are done and installed. I also put the first coat of stain on. It don't look it but did stain it. I may have to add more stain to the mix. I think it will look really cool when installed on the layout

I got three coats of stain on it and it looks so much better, But am thinking of one more coat. I would like it a bit darker. Shots of it right now. Have to wait to dry before i make up my mind. Shots below
