To Caboose, or not to Caboose? That is the question.

On the idea of controlling separations of cars from the motors pulling them.
It seems a form of MU line is needed similiar to the real air pressure hoses. It would have to be electrical, resistance or both. Connections could be made via metal couplers with undercarriage wires or small plug wires(not good for swiching cars). Perhaps DCC could control point of electrical pickup of either plus or negative track voltage, then you could use the caboose or end car as a power pickup source. DCC could switch back to engine voltage pickup on switching moves.
One break in the train would stop all power to the engines.
Just a 'wish it so' thought?

LOL, we wouldn't want life to be easy.

I have a flashing red light at the end of one of my cars, but it doesn't look like a FRED when you are close. (Its a small LED, basically). There is a switch for ON-OFF at the bottum of the car, sure looks great to see an AC4400CW, SD40-2, 25 cars and a FRED on a train!

    Happy Railroading!
