I am looking for a piece of scrap Z scale track. I am building a display for boy scouts to see what the different scales are. I am wondering if anyone might have a small piece that they are willing to part with or a suggestion where I might get a piece. I mainly model HO. Thanks!

    Kev,
Last time I was out your way, I found a couple nice little LHS (local hobby shops). Made several purchases. I'm sure one of these (if they still exist, It's been awhile now) should have Z scale flex track. One strip should easily do the job and not cost much.

Gotta get back out your way sometime soon. Was way too beautiful!!!!!

By the way, is this for the railroading merit badge?? Many of us here were once Boy Scouts. Lotsa fun!!! Never got the railroading merit badge though cause didn't find out it existed till after I was out of scouts. :(

If you cannot find a piece of display track, it's very easy to make one. Just take a piece of code 55 flextrack from N Scale, peel off one rail, and superglue it down on top of the ties .256" space inbetween the other.

6 thousandths don't make much difference, so you can use a 1/4" piece of metal, plastic, etc. as a rail gauge.

Yes this is for railroading merit badge. I am trying to get the scouts interested in the hobby by showing them some stuff. I am also on the district staff and I can use it to show the adult leaders as well. I am an adult leader over the 11 year old patrol. I hope to be able to use it with them here soon and hopefully instill the hobby with them and get them going.

Excellent! I've thought of offering my old troop my services for this badge at times. Maybe I'll check into it. [IMG]
