A AMtrak Train running on the BNSF in Aburn Washington plowed through a house that was being moved accross the mainline, This happened on Satarday the 23 of December. The BNSF dispatcher had cleared the move accorss the tracks, he forgott to check the Amtrak though, it was a Seattle Seahawks football special. Luckily know one was hurt. There were two men on top of the house when the train hit it doing 50 MPH, one was thrown 75ft and only bruised, the other fell into the house and was also bruised. 9 people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries and the house was completly destoryed. Here's the article from the South County Journal: Train hits house being hauled across tracks 2000-12-25 by Matt Joyce Journal Reporter PACIFIC -- No one was seriously injured late Saturday night when a passenger train hit a home being hauled across tracks just east of here. Jeffrey Douglas Pounder, the 45-year-old Auburn man who was hauling the house across the tracks, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the state patrol reported. The accident occurred about 11 p.m. as the truck attempted to cross railroad tracks near the intersection of Eighth Street East and East Valley Highway, said Washington State Patrol Lt. Dan Eikum. Anthony Payne, 25, of Auburn and David Higman, 31, of Seattle were standing atop the house and trying to lift powerlines and traffic signals over the chimney, he said. The Amtrak train filled with football fans heading to Portland, Ore., after Saturday's Seahawks game hit the tractor trailer rig, according to Eikum. Neither Payne, Higman, nor any of the 90 passengers on the Seattle-to-Portland train were seriously injured. The train, however, was damaged and the passengers were taken to Portland on buses. ``It was a very traumatic collision,'' Eikum said. ``Everyone's lucky not to be seriously injured.'' The crash split the house into two pieces and scattered debris for about a quarter-mile, he said. ------------------ Ed Harrison Ed's Mental Cab Ride
