Not to long ago someone posted a question about the roof details of UP #3300. I went looking for the post but didn't find it. Any way, I am posting this to help that person. There is a link a top photo of 3300 sister and it appears to have the pipeing in question. I would use Detail Associates wire to do that (probibly .015"). Hope this helps Mr ??????? Did that do it? What is the piping for? Is it on many '40's? It appears to go to the horns ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery Alan's European Gallery Alan's British Steam Gallery

Hey Craig. The line you ask about is most likely the air supply line for the horns. This might be due to some mechanical constrictions under the long hood. It also might be for heated horns. The SP used to have those, and the air was pumped over the engine over the DB blister, so it makes sense that the air would then be heated, and used to activate the horn. Hope that helped you.
