[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Nice Stainz. Looking for one myself. But just the right one, a #26211, the 125th Anniversary Stainz loco. I also became interested in collecting locos from Delton and Kalamazoo a couple of years ago. As I did I became interested in these two companies and their place in the history of the hobby. While I searched for more info I ran across a collector's guide for Delton Locomotive Works that is very pricey ($150 +). It least for me. That's when I got the idea to do my own. It's just a photo list if items that I have been able to catch on the internet and eBay combined with what little catalog info I have also acquired. After I purchased a Kalamazoo MCRR loco, I started the same for them. When I get a scanner I'll be able to scan all the items in the catalogs I have. When I found Trainman's list of USA Trains (USAT) I again started my own list using his lists for the basis of mine. I wish there had been lists like this for Delton and Kalamazoo. It has been a blessing. Again I started gathering all the photos I could find, manufacturer's and internet. My other hobby is landscape photography. When I'm not doing this, or running my trains, or entertaining the grandkids, I'm off on some photo safari. I do this kind of stuff for fun. Be careful how you use the term narrow gauge when refering to USA Trains, LGB or Bachmann. USA Trains American series is a 1:24 scale ratio, LGB is a 1:22.5 scale ratio and the Bachmann big haulers, well it seems to have no specific scale ratio. True narrow gauge is actually considered to be 1:20.3 scale ratio or otherwise known as Fn3 scale which runs on Gauge #1 track like our G scale trains. There is no such thing as G scale track, it's called Gauge #1 track which is 45mm wide. Anyway there are 2 major manufacturers of real narrow gauge Fn3 scale which is Accucraft and Bachmann. Bachmann has both the Big haulers series and Narrow gauge series which is actual 1:20.3 scale ratio not to be confused with the big hauler series which seems to have a scale ratio all over the place.

Well looks like I lose out on that Charles Ro flat with vintage autos, I had a problem with this vendor, they didn't give a accurate discription on a past item I bought so I gave them a neutral and now they blocked me, so I rather wait for the right piece to come along with the original box anyway, patience is a virtue. Someone some day will sell one.
Good news to all ........................ I have finally started on my USA Trains Collectors guide with photos as well as text info. I'm starting with the R1600 woodside reefer cars and it's in PDF format. Bad News........................ Train Board is too small to host the file I have so far to upload. Train board can only handle 100KB, so far I just begun and my book is already near 6MB I'm trying to get permission to use a link for a outside hoster such as Rapidshare, Filefactory, ect to share what I have so far.
I thought I might have made a typo so I checked again, but there it is. On page 11 of the '90 catalog Ro shows a black D&RGW #1710 flat car with what looks like a light blue Ford coupe or roadster w/rumble seat and a red Ford or Chevy narrow-bed pickup. Same thing again in the '91 cat. so it's real unless it's a real screwup by Ro. I think I saw the flat car you are talking about with #1720. But, It had a blue pickup and white car I think. These are really cool cars. I'd like to collect all the different versions. There's also a D&RGW #1700 flat car on eBay with wood load & no stakes but the listing reads #1701. The one in my catalog is a #1700 w/stakes and matches the printed info. Go figure. I can only assume they used different number cars in the cat. if they didn't have a correctly numbered prototype for the photo. That would explain the mismatch in the catalog and matching numbers on store shelves. But then, what about the above examples? It makes my head hurt! I also have started on a photo catalog of Ro/USA Trains items using your lists as a starting point. I don't have a scanner yet but am using images from USAT and the internet. So far I'm at 123 pages but that all depends on the size of the photos. I also have included lists of other American series cars not in this thread as well. GovB WOW you have done it again, thanx for the information. I had no luck getting any USA Trains or Charles Ro catalogs earlier than 1996. It's nice to meet someone that has older catalogs for reference. Great Job and a asset to this thread, thanx again.
GovB, I wonder if I could ask for your help on another USA Train rolling stock list, this time the R1400 series outside braced box car, I have a list started near the begining of this thread, but needs alot of blanks filled in. Any help is appreciated and thanx for your invested time and efforts.
GovB. Since you are new to the board and have provided alot of valuable USA Trains info, what do you have in your collection, I'm just kinda of courious if you have collected some of those Charles Ro trains over the years. How did you come across those rare Charles Ro catalogs that you have?
Trainman, The R1400 series is a little mysterious. Some were listed with 2 different road numbers between '89 and '91. There could be more instances but my info is limited. Can't imagine why Ro would make such a change so quickly. It wasn't like they were running out of numbers. This is what I have so far. Not a lot but mostly from catalog info. Got all my catalogs on eBay. No real sightings. If someone could double check this info it would be great. Just been interested in USAT the last couple of years. Started with USAT SR&RL box car to go with my LGB passenger super set. Wanted to make a freight set too. Got a few more, then started on Pepsi. All the USAT cars are great, well made. Much better than Bachmann's standard rolling stock. USAT is very similar if not a double for LGB. Got hooked on LGB Coca-Cola cars for a while. Have some USAT and Delton beer box cars for a beer train and even a near complete collection of Kalamazoo anniversary cars with a MCRR loco & caboose. Its a lot different stuff. I'd call it a collection of trains and not a train collection. I am limited to living in an apartment for now so I concentrate on ones to go with what the locos I have. Not one to collect for collection's sake. If I can be of any more help please let me know. I'll try the best I can to get the info. Here is something just for fun (or if your bored like me). Go to USA Trains main page and select any of the item buttons, say "MILITARY SERIES". Now select an item, say "R22131 US Army GP7 Locomotive- Red". Now, while on that page, change the item number (R22131) in the address line of the browser to any of the ones listed below. Try R1740, R1751, R1752, R1753, R1755, R1757, R1758, R1759, R1761, and R1762. Surprise! You'll find items that aren't listed on the web page or in the catalog. I personally like #R1757.
