A quick question, for those who have uploaded videos:

What do you use to edit/crop videos??
Trying to upload on now, but it's gonna take YouTube another 2H 45M
to upload! Want to reduce it to about a 30 second clip.l

Have a video of a driver, as I was coming home from railroad club meeting tonight.
A perfect example of how NOT to drive!!

    Anyway, editing/cropping help/ideas must appreciated.
    Thanks.

This could be an interesting topic for the rest of us as well.

I recommend ShotCut as I have been using it for month's if not more than a year. Cross platform, and the biggest FREE! And it get's updated often. I have one video on it, but I am going to do a series of videos on how to use certain parts at some point. There are a bunch on YT already. I just want to make on own on how to use some parts of it. I only use the Really Simple parts though at this point.

Of course I have gotten used to the basic layout of it over the month's! Give it a minute to learn the basics and you'll like it! Or you should. We all know it takes a bit of time to get used to a new layout of any program. Whether it is a track planning program or a video editor. You have to start somewhere!

This is the ONLY tutorial video I have made of how to use it. More to come at some point! Might make a very Basic tutorial this weekend. It's actually simple for just the basics! Now if you want to be a movie editor, you can do I, but I have no clue how to do it :) Just saying!

My fade in and out video, and trim one, using ShotCut. It's really simple! Sorry about the audio! I just use some headphones with a Mic in them.

Here is a quick basic tutorial of using Shotcut. I should have edited the video recording software starting, my bad! But you get the point?

I use Movie Studio platinum, It is not expensive ( well not in the U.K anyway) and all my youtube videos are edited on it and then rendered as MP4s. One of the advantages I find with it is will import almost anything into the timeline. old VHS, VHS-c, 8mm camcorder footage right through to my ad-hoc footage done on my Samsung phone

If you have an Apple Mac ......... then Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) is quite worth the money. I used to be half of a video company and we used Avid media composer and wow didn't that get expensive. Avid may have slightly more features but the difference was those other features were so obscure and rarely used the cost difference was absurd.
FCPX has a lot more users who are willing to share knowledge also where as Avid seemed to have so many closely guarded secrets.

I forgot to mention we had used Pinnacle software for our first video (Windows) and it worked quite well too. It's a bit cheaper than FCPX too.

I use Video Pad, free version. Works well and is easy to learn. Then I export the video as mpg, mp4 or any number of different extensions.
