On the journey to Wakefield Model Railway Exhibition recently, I had the opportunity to get some shots of trains at stations where I changed trains. First stop was Lincoln. A West Yorkshire Metro class 144 "Pacer" runs into the platform ready for the return run to Huddersfield.
This was the trailing unit on my ride from Ruskington, and was detached at Lincoln to form my onward journey to Doncaster.
Doncaster. A couple of class 47's looking worse for wear were parked alongide the works buildings. and some freightcars in an equally poor state
Oops! I have removed the multiple posts. It was the server playing up, and I had no indication the posts were uploading. All I was getting was 500 errors
An EWS class 66 and hoppers passes through the centre road. Some serious construction going on behind!
Excellent phots Alan, It's always interesting to see the English stuff as with the privatisation thing, it is a direction that CityRail will most probably take whether we like it or not. One bad point you changed trains how many times?? but one good point a private company is interested in it's image so at least everything is clean
Sten, I rode Central Trains from my village to Lincoln, then Central trains again to Doncaster and finally GNER to Wakefield. I had planned taking Arriva Trains Northern from Lincoln to Sheffield, then Virgin Trains to Wakefield, but the connection at Lincoln was missed by 30 seconds!
Got my first chance to photograph a class 67. This one was standing alongside the station, probably on Thunderbird duty?
A surprise for me was the arrival of the Network Rail measuring train. The all yellow HST arrived from the south and parked alongside the station. My first look at this train.
Cool, nice shots of the 'Flying Banana' The 142 is in Arriva Trains Northern paint, but the previous weekend the franchise had been taken over by a new operator who has removed the logo's.
In the short time I was at Doncaster, there were several freights all hauled by class 66. This Freightliner 66 passed at the side of the station
Nice shots Alan, you seem to have more luck catching GBRf 66's than I do! Last time I was in Doncaster they were demolishing the old car park, looks like it's being replaced there!
The conductor of a GNER train checks that all doors are closed before giving the "right away". The driving van trailer car (DVT)
