Just recieved my August 2009 Model Railroader and on page 17 they have thier first ad for the Walthers 2010 Reference Book.On the cover is an E9 and next to it an ACF dome car. This is probably going to mean a run of "City of Los Angeles" and or "City of San Fransico". On the Walthers website they are going to offer a Pullman Standard 10-6 painted UP but labelled Pennsylvania which is "Stoney Rapids".It is expected to be availiable after November 28 2009.Yes its smoothsided and shows the band below the windows but the photo is of the typical plan 4140. Hopefully the other side not pictured has the correct window spacing for the room side.
You are a good man for listing it by plan number. While I have very little interest in western roads (ok, western std gauge...as my name reveals my love of western NG), I do have a strong interest in standard Pullman designs...and am slowly building a small fleet in HO scale.
Its ok, I have enough interest in western roads to make up for you. And here I am stranded in north east. Aweful.
U.P. Streamliners If the cover is a prelude to what's coming down the line like in the past the Yello Peril folks should have some very good cars to model about any "City of" train. Wonder if the 9000 series Dome Diner is in the list. That's one car that hasn't been made nor has the Baggage Dorm with a four wheel truck on one end and a six wheel truck on the other. Just have to wait and see. Many of the Walthers and Riverossi passenger cars that are presently available are correct for Union Pacific.
