My husband is currently a shop laborer in barstow ca and we want to move to utah, but i can figure out what city it would be in. Anybody knkw where the LMIT yard is in Utah. Thanks! !
BNSF Railway operates in Utah on Union Pacific Railroad tracks. (Trackage rights agreement.) I wonder if this would show in any listing of UP abbreviations?
The UP division point between Grand Juntion and Provo is Helper, UT. I would imagine, that the BNSF would probably use Helper or Price for their crews. In addition to Provo/Salt Lake area, there is also, probably, Wendover. That's where the Westbound UP crew change is at. I would call the UTU local chairman for Salt Lake/Provo. I think it's Local 166. Good luck.
BNSF crews man their trains Denver-Provo. Crew changes are Denver/Kremmling CO/Grand Junction/Provo. No BNSF train crews home terminal, just away terminal in Provo. All Utah operations contracted to Utah RY. Utah RY mans thru traffic Provo to SLC then UP crews West. Utah RY also mans Locals, but not sure about switching limits for locals.
I don't know where that yard is located, however I do know of a site that has helped me find out about different places I visited. http://www.city-data.com/forum/
