Now that CNR has taken over WC, they have gained 240 Wisconsin Central owned locomotives. I will list them off bellow, but of these how many are actually being used by the Candian National???

**I have eliminated units which I know to NOT be in service**

    SW1 - 1

    SW9 - 1231

    SD35Q - 2500
    GP35 - 2551-2558
    GP40 - 3000, 3002-3007, 3009-3012, 3014, 3017, 3018, 3021-3025
    GP40u - 3026-3027
    SD40 - 6000
    SD40-2 - 6002-6006
    SD45 - 6497, 6502, 6516, 6521, 6529, 6533, 6550, 6552, 6553, 6554, 6556, 6578, 6579, 6582-6584, 6586-6588, 6590, 6591, 6593-6605, 6607-6636, 6639-6642
    F45 - 6650, 6651, 6653-6656
    FP45 - 6652
    SD45u - 7495, 7496, 7498-7502, 7504-7515, 7517-7520, 7522-7528, 7530-7532, 7551, 7554, 7581, 7585, 7589, 7592, 7606, 7637, 7638

    Dave,
First of all some minor corrections to your list:
*The SDL39's are numbered in the 582-590 series, not the 700's as you list.
*There is only one unit numbered 1231, it is an SW1200. WC never had any SW9's.
*Correct number series for the SW1200's is 1230-1237 for a total of 8 units.
*WC 3026 and 3027 are classified as GP40-2 not GP40u.
*WC 2500 is classified as SD39-3 by WC, not SD35Q.

To make matters simple, I will list the groups of units that have been retired since the CN takeover on 10-9-01.

*SW1 1 has been purchased by a tourist road in northern Wisconsin.
    *All GP30 units (700-series, 2250-series)
    *All GP35 units (2550-series) except 2558
*All SW1200 units except 1230 (leased to Charter Steel) and 1237 (leased to a paper mill in the Wisconsin Rapids area)
*All Algoma Central FP9A's and FP9B's.
    *All GP35m's (2050-series) except 2052
    *All F45's with the exception of 6654 (6650-6651; 6653, 6655-6656)

There have been patchy retirements of SD45's too numerous to get into here, I'd have to dig through my records. All of the SW1500's, GP40's, GP40-2's, GP38-2's, SD40-2's, the single SD40, SD39-3, the single FP45, and all of the rebuilt SD45's are in service.

For a comprehensive WC roster (pre-CN) I suggest a look at my website, it can be found at: http://www.trainweb.org/wcnorthamerica/index.html

Also a good idea to check out WCinfo@yahoogroups.com if you have an interest in current and historic WC operations.

    Hope this helped,
