A MTL gondola weathered Technique : - First : a light coat of mat varnish (cellulose mat varnish with a drop of white) - Dry brushing of chalks (about 10 colors / white, black, red, brown , green ...) - Final brushing with a dry toothbrush The track : homemade, with code 30 rail (homemade) on PCB sleepers
No Juerg, don't take it as though I disapprove of the scale. I figured it was a larger scale. The point is, it's great work no matter what scale. I have a hard time believing the one picture with the water isn't real? Maybe I need to check my eye glass prescription again....)
A PRR Cabin Car with a light weathering. All is painted with Testor paints / mat varnish / grey and white chalks / black chalk on the roof and trucks
With the same technique (mat varnish and brushed dry chalks) a SW9 (Baltimore & Ohio) and a PRR Cabin Car.
Jeff, After I saw your post I picked up a pack of the F3801. On my set the color ids are stamped on the white band below the cap. I had to look closely to find them. Maybe they were out of ink the day your set went through.:tb-wink:
NICE weathering ! Jerry: I was referring to the actual color samples. The product is text labeled, as you state, but all the caps are black and there is no color sample on the tube. If the caps were colored, like most paint, that would be helpful. So that is why I paint samples on these and the Floquil/Testors cans and bottles. That way, I can grab them from any angle or container and know without reading the text. .
